Working with Katherine has been a total blessing in my process of looking for an engagement ring for my fiancee. My choice for the October piece of the month is a 1.41 carat cushion cut green tourmaline, surrounded with pave diamonds. I came upon the setting much by chance and have had in my head for some time now that I would like to make a ring with a green stone.

My first choice for a green stone is always an emerald, but they just don’t wear well in rings. Since tourmaline is an alternative October birthstone, I decided to start the search for one that struck me. Many green tourmalines tend to be a bit browner than I’d like, but this one is nice and bright and fit the bill perfectly. The setting has 50 SI1-2, G color diamonds totalling .45 carats, and my favorite part is that the setting is completely open below the stone, allowing maximum light to flow underneath. It is a comfort-fit setting, which means that the insides of the ring are rounded, making it sublimely comfortable. I look forward to seeing this ring bring much joy to whomever is wearing it!
